December 29. Roatan, Honduras.

I cannot believe I am almost caught up with the blog. This is hard to do with little internet service.
Today finds us in Roatan, Honduras. 3 other cruise ships have found this place too. We can tell we are on the Caribbean side. Many more tourists.

A Roatan "chicken bus"!

Policia.

We hired a driver to drive us around the island to the west end. Yes, that is a dirt road.

You can see a Royal Caribbean ship in the foreground. Our little Explorer is peaking out from the left side.

We cannot even imagine the poverty here. The mainland is much worse.

The "main" road across the island. Where is all that cruise ship money going?
We got to "Bananarama" on the West End, and found that many others discovered this place as well.

Bob Falstein and his sister Debbie joined us for lunch.

Ok, this was a turnoff. Too many people on the beach. We headed out.

Our little home away from home.

  1. Here you showed both sides of Honduras – the paradisiacal beauty of the beaches, a lush tropical environment, which is so appreciated by all who visit the Caribbean side! In contrast, the injustice of poverty – children wishing for a fraction of we consider the necessities of life!
Then you asked “Where is all that cruise ship money going?” Good question!!!
